Because the MAGA movement has the very rich and very poor and a sizable chunk of the middle. Most democrats are pretty spineless and like to live with the idea that if we just let things move along it will all work out ok.

I’m beyond trying to make sense of it, they’re the richest country in the world and STILL not happy! So now they’re speed-running the collapse of their economy and cultural capital. I’m so grateful I don’t live there and I think the world is going to quickly move on and they’ll sadly just be an economically crippled irrelevant social pariah. It’s an extraordinary fumble for a country that defined global politics and culture for a century, but every empire must fall!
 
They’ll end up like Russia who went from global super-power to backwards non-entity. They’re just bringing forward the age of China being the global super-power by 30 years.
 
They’re so engrained in western progressive thinking though. Despite their bizarre cultural perspectives that evolved through decades of obsession with their own flawed constitution, their wealth and power has left a mark on entertainment, the arts, science, sport, music… the impact is going to be huge. Targeting Disney for DEI initiatives for example is just so disgusting. Threatening to investigate university programs and media outlets for being too woke or progressive. This is not real life.

What always concerns me more than the handful of batshit individuals trying to administer this though, is the TENS OF MILLIONS who think this is all a great idea. Either because they’re stupid, ignorant, or an algorithm told them so.

I can understand a xenophobic and paranoid effort to thwart China and Russia. I mean that’s been a fundamental American philospophy for over 100 years. But trying to thwart globalisation? Girl please. Telling Disney to have less brown characters is not going to stop the world getting smaller. Especially when one of your own acolytes owns half the internet, the very platform that has accelerated globalisation for the last two decades.

I've seen lots of things begging non-whites not to do anything like taking to the streets because of increased danger to anybody who isn't a born and bred white American. Increased dangers include being getting shot with impunity or deported to El Salvador, regardless of your immigration status.

Anyway my most unhinged conspiracy theory take about Greenland/Canada is that Global warming is way worse than we know, completely irreversible, and the US is trying to secure territory at a higher latitude because Florida/Texas/Arizona/Nevada will be uninhabitable in 50 years.
 
He wants to stamp his name in history books with a high ratings land grab and Greenland probably looks like the easiest one to nab!
