We knew it caused cancer in rats in the late 1980's when I was adding it to pop. It's such an awful fine powder and the sole reason I can't drink sugar-free drinks, I signed the dispensary bags back in so I was covered in it, I couldn't get rid of the taste for about a week.Yes, I'm sure I remember talk of it being banned in other countries decades ago, but still considered safe in the UK.
