I’m so glad we’re having a song for the song contest. That’s a good start.

I look forward to the next no-hoper being announced on Strictly, surrounded by the grinning idiots of that show, with Just A Little Bit or Making Your Mind Up blaring in the background because those are the BBC's ONLY POINTS OF REFERENCE

OK well they mention "unmatched vocal tonality and range" which is a good start.

Wait, Joe Hendry is a pro wrestler?!

That might actually work if he can somehow shoehorn into body slams and speedos into his stage routine

Also the only name I’ve heard so far is Becky Hill, but I really don’t see us bagging an actual name after Olly submitted one of the only three good songs this year and still got fuck all from the public.

This makes it sound like it’s unlikely to be any kind of established artist.

Rina/Fleur/Jessie on the shelf again :(

I mean let's be clear in no way was Olly one of the best three

Didn't deserve nil points but definitely one of the weaker performers

Becky Hill, whilst usually utterly devoted to derivative old toot, does at least have a set of pipes on her

I’m struggling to think of anything beyond Dizzy, Unforgettable and We Will Rave that I ever actually want to hear again. It was a fucking awful year.

Becky Hill is a bit of an odd choice considering the diminishing returns of our radio pop era and the evidence for her amounts to ‘she followed someone vaguely associated with Eurovision on Twitter’, but I agree performance-wise I don’t think we’d have a thing to worry about.

I think even a niche in-joke would stand more chance than our previous tactic of "would this blend in on a Spotify Hot Hits playlist"

Let's be honest, if it's been offered to Becky Hill, they will have BCC'd Ella Henderson and Annemarie in the same email. Maybe Perrie off Little Mix if they're feeling ambitious.

Imagine Becky Hill thinking she has too much CREATIVE INTEGRITY for this

[Signs up to sing a Joel Corry EDM cover of Mambo No.5]

Mimi Webb saying she'd be very open to Eurovision at some point on Rylan (which was an active topic of conversation throughout). Probably confirms the rumours that she was in the running in 2023, and permanently adds her to the annual speculation list for YEARS TO COME

I think she’d be great

I think she can sing well live…

Freezing would have been a great UK entry. Nice to see she is up for it.

Some different names here, along with the usual Rina who probably wouldn't touch this now with a barge pole.

Dear Alice might be quite striking.
