Oh, my two good American friends here are from PA and WI :o obvs both sent their vote for Kamala off weeks ago. My WI friend has also been doing phone banking... She is a published YA author with gay characters in at least one book so could theoretically be LOCKED UP under Project 2025 :side-eye:

Basically, the best chance at a result being called tonight/tomorrow morning is if Harris comfortably wins North Carolina and Georgia. Even then, she needs to either also win Michigan, Pennsylvania, or two out of three of Wisconsin, Nevada and Arizona.

If North Carolina, Georgia and Michigan all call tonight in Harris' favour, that should be enough.

The more likely outcome per the polls is that NC and/or GE go to Trump, which would mean all eyes on Michigan and by what kind of margin it swings. If the rest are close, we could be stuck in limbo for days.

Obviously if Trump comfortably picks up Georgia, North Carolina *and* edges (or bulldozes) Michigan, and also gets good numbers out of Nevada and Arizona, we're likely in Nina Bonina Brown.gif territory. :(

I made the mistake of bringing up the election in a year 7 class. Although the good news is THEY ALL HATE DONALD TRUMP.

Reading between the lines with only a passing understanding of American bullshit politics my feeling is that the KH camp are playing it down so people don't get complacent and not vote, whilst the DT camp are overstating it in a case of bullshit people into voting for him so they are on the winning side (because thats the mentality of his crowd) but also to call FIX when they eventually lose.

I'm stationed outside a condo voting location and am open for influence, I mean business, I mean civic action!

From The Guardian live blog

Reporting from South Raleigh, North Carolina:

Lavar Turner, 46, who runs a burger joint, was also motivated to vote for Harris over Trump’s role in overturning the right to an abortion. Also like Johnson, he had problems deciding.

Initially he was tempted to vote for Trump, but he wasn’t sure. “So I sat and prayed about it, and as I was praying Kamala’s face came into my mind, and I knew she was the one.”

He went on to research her policies, abortion especially, and was convinced that was the way to go. “I don’t like them taking away women’s rights – without women, men wouldn’t be here.”

His wife, Beverly Turner, 51, had a more robust way of explaining her vote. “Trump can take his Project 2025 and shove it all the way up his ass.”

BEVERLY TURNER 2028!

Someone claiming to be the "building manager" just threatened to call the cops on me because it's "private property". Moron.

HE'S HERE

I can’t believe this is today.

I’m not ready. These could be the last few hours of relative normality :(

My anxiety is off the charts today, to think we have HOURS of this shit left still.

My spidey senses say that Harris will take it, and that Trump will be either senile or dead entirely by 2028. If today goes right it really is the last time he'll hold any meaningful power.
