Awards Season 22/23

Now I wish I’d bothered to watch All Quiet when it was playing, a 2 and 1/2 hours war movie isn’t ideal at home.

All Quiet is so, so good, what an overload of love for it from the BAFTAs. I'd love to see it in a cinema though.

Angela Bassett once again REALLY? FFS, give her a half decent role and she can run away with this any time, but not for this poorly written fluff.

Again, Carey Mulligan for Supporting? Then who is the lead in that film? At least give it to Lashana Lynch for The Woman King as that’s a far more interesting performance.

ANA DE ARMAS WHAT? WHY? In WHAT WORLD?

Still don’t get the love for Banshees. I’m Team Elvis right now.
Angela is the clearest career nomination ever I think :D

God knows what Mulligan is doing in there, the other one was better anyway. And neither was exceptional in any way!

Taking advantage of the fact that Actress and Supporting Actress is a very weak year. Still, I’d say Jamie Lee Curtis should get the “career win” since she has been around longer and probably has fewer chances of a baity role.

It's hard to argue either way for me, they have both paid their dues.

I'm glad Michelle Williams got frozen out though - what an unedifying spectacle that performance is (scene in the cupboard aside) :D

I just don’t GET Michelle Williams

She’s just one of those capable but BORING actresses. See also Carey Mulligan

I love Carey Mulligan, she’s up there with the Cate and Kate for me.

I can see the appeal of giving Angela Bassett a legacy Oscar but I'm sorry, giving it to her for a small role in a MARVEL SEQUEL just feels totally beneath her.

Give it to Curtis! A genuinely integral and memorable role in a really great film, that feels like a summation of the kind of great physical comedy she's excelled at for the past four decades.

Although Jamie deserves it for ANOTHER film from 2022, I wouldn’t mind her winning it for this. :)

Carey Mulligan is brilliant and can nail pretty much everything but Michelle Williams... definitely a snooze. even her THR roundtable contributions were DULL.

Lol it’ll be a laugh if Riseborough gets in. Apparently the movie is good or so would the spontaneous simultaneous tweets from celebrities have you believe.

Her performance is better than the movie. The whole thing was just a favour for her agency because the film was so low budget they couldn’t afford ads :D

Stephanie Hsu getting in a lovely surprise!

yeah which shows more love for EE over Tar since Nina Hoss missed out.

All Quiet is cleaning up. The adapted screenplay nominations are bizarre.

Having Ruiz Ahmed say my year of dicks was lovely.

Also Stephanie Hsiang being nominated might steal some of Jamie’s votes and allow Angela the win.

Yasss All the beauty and the bloodshed is great :disco:

Yay for Paul Mescal, lovely movie.

Ana de Armas is gonna have the completists in a tizzy watching Blonde.

Nice that Women Talking managed two nominations.

Glad the Tom Cruise hype came to nothing.

I think Everything Everywhere took the popular movie that was a hit spot as in if it wasn’t around I think Top Gun and Avatar would have had a bigger impact.

I’m glad I’m gonna finally see what she actually looks like at the ceremony (she has the least memorable face)
