Anyone up for a Tension bauble?

it's one of those ethical plastic diamonds darling. they're all the rage! the perfect accessory to glam up your christmas tree (pairs best with fake tree).

Judging by the KYLIE WINES ( :D ) one which is mouth blown glass, it's probably glass too but still, an ABSOLUTE RIP OFF:

You just know Say Hey is going to be full of people in a few weeks complaining they haven't been received before Christmas.

Moopy was obviously on the edge of its collective seat for the release of Extension:

I've only given it a quick listen but I think Hold On To Now remains the best.

So Kylie did do the rap bit on Hands... how benevolent to let Ms Marinade have her moment in the spotlight. Shame this extended version is a bit disjointed.

Didn't even see this in Fopp yesterday, is it D2C, limited...or just a bit niche?

Why is the extended 10 Out Of 10 greyed out on Spotify? :oi:

No one gives a shit about Extension, do they?

And I’m not surprised- most of the extended reworkings are just the odd extra loop here and there. And an extended mix being 4 or so minutes long doesn’t allow for much more.

They really are taking the piss.

Vegas High is the exception- but still could have been so much more.

I never had a problem with the multiple variants of Tension because I'm not a collector and if I'm not spending my money on it, it doesn't bother me.

A release like this, however, I do resent because it had the potential of being so much more and this collection is the very definition of "will this do?".

We should have seen it coming though because Disco Extended, save for a song here and there, was similarly superfluous. There's just a complete lack of imagination involved - it's not like Guy Massey didn't have access to the masters - BMG have obviously realised that fans will buy any old tat.

I think Disco Extended for the most part worked better. More tracks felt like fleshed out versions of the initial tracks, and less obviously an extra loop or a bare minimum 'that'll do'.

I agree with Sheena that Vegas High is the exception - it's the only track where I feel the song is more fully realised and anything is really added to the original.

Yeah, I thought Disco Extended was better as well- and I don’t really love Disco as an album.

This is just crap, before we even get to the fact that it doesn’t have the deluxe edition tracks on its two discs.

I did think Vegas High is too short in its original, which might be part of the reasoning in my head…

E.g. the first 6 tracks already feel so complete, I just don't see the need at all.

They're all perfectly measured, never outstay their welcome - the extensions sort of muddy songs that are otherwise perfectly distilled pop.

Things We Do For Love has been thrown horribly off-balance with the extended version, which is a real shame as it's the one I'd been looking forward to the most.

Disco Extended ruined Miss A Thing and Real Groove for me, which are two of my absolute highlights from that album so that is perhaps why I don’t look on it as fondly. I did love what it did to Say Something and I Love It though (and to a lesser extent, Magic and Supernova).

I do still properly love a lot of Disco.

Good to see it back in the charts after its minimal 5 week total I guess

Is Hold on to Now ticking over on streams?? Its getting good airplay but not featuring in her spotify top 5 now what with the two xmas tracks up there

I found this in the OCC album chart rules earlier - which also explains the Agnetha A/A+ business a few weeks ago.

Alternative album formats (Deluxe, Re-Issues)

if the additional tracks are released as a separate product, transactions of an album cannot be combined with those of the original format. This is applicable even if the album contains mixes/live/extended versions of songs on the original format.

As usual with the OCC these days, every answer offers a further question, though. Following the rule above, I understand that the sales of the physical Extension are separated from Tension. But on Spotify, although it's called 'Extension (The Extended Mixes)', it's only available as a 22 track album, with the standard Tension as part of the tracklist. So does that mean that those streams DON'T count to Extension but are combined with Tension instead, as that isn't a separate product? Even if someone only listens to the extended versions?
