UK General Election 2024 - July 4th

How are you likely to vote?

  • Total voters
    67

Say what you like about Ed Davey but he's done a cracking job of diverting everyone from his role in the Post Office crisis by acting the buffoon. Straight out the Johnson playbook, one might say.

Vote fucking Reform if it means getting the Tories out.

I honestly think my politics is "not the Tories".

It’s the only politics that matters.

Elections are a choice between logic and principle.

Nick Clegg thought he was a man of principle when he sided with David Cameron. Jeremy Corbyn thought he was a man of principle when he led Labour to its most unpopular period in decades and we got Boris.

Yeah, logic for me thanks!

Who supports legalising weed? I presume Green along with Lib Dems.

Labour really need to get on that. I doubt it would lose them votes + the tax.
Greens have the most robust policy on drugs in general, Lib Dems have always been pro weed. I need to update my notes but in the last manifesto Labour only mentioned medical and the Tories not at all.

Yes you may vote for a Lib Dem if it's tactical and they're the only feasible option to keep the Tories out in a contituency.

Other than that, one should have nothing to do with them.

And never - never - shag a Lib Dem. Pitiful creatures, deeply unchic.

It's fine to have had a thing for young Paddy Ashdown though, right?

Imagine how big the lead could be in a months time though :disco:

I've been closely watching the parallels between 2024 and 1997 for polling.

The actual result for 1997 was actually closer than polls suggested, and they did narrow slightly during the campaign. But there was scarcely a time when Blair polled so consistently 20 points ahead.

I do worry it will eventually narrow. But if it doesn't, landslide isn't the word.

It’s just so very amusing how much effort the government have put into their strategy and how unhinged the right wing press has been even this early in the game, and it’s actually making it worse :D

This is the first 20+ point lead that Opinium has shown since the Truss era.

The Opinium methodology has been more favourable to the Conservatives, and accounts for narrowing polls. Their raw data shows a 24 point lead.

I do enjoy that, after Keith became Labour leader, Momentum types on Twitter would constantly mock that Labour still weren't "20 points ahead in the polls" (as had apparently been claimed would be the case if Corbyn went) to the extent it became a meme. And now HERE WE ARE

*takes out alternative milk drink*

“SAYIN’ NUTHIN’”

Honestly just give the woman a role on Corrie.

CAMP!

Now that Rayner is allowed out again, we'll probably see her pushed to the front a bit more, mainly because she is actually likeable, unlike Starmer. Or Sunak. The Tories have no equivalent.

Yikes. I hope this woman wins her seat and a divorce.

Labour definitely hiring sassy writers for their marketing team in this election and I'm here for it

It just amazes me how bad Tories PR/marketing people know...."I know let's record and upload Rishi announcing Labour's pledges and then just walking away from a blank white board, because y'know, they don't have a plan, *fnah, fnah*.

What could possible go wrong?" :eyes:

Meanwhile the Tories are running with the attack line that Rayner is running the show, instead of Starmer. Which is just odd. It's nowhere near as effective the SNP running the show in the case of a Labour led hung Parliament (as they used in 2015 IIRC).

Tenuous.

I think we knew the terf shit was coming eventually and I suspect Tetris was right when they said that the culture war crap would be part of the debates. It's so pathetic.

The Labour left would LOVE Rayner to be running the show. Way to go, make Labour appealing to some of their disaffected support!

I guess the trade off is potentially winning back disaffected Tories, rather than appealing to disaffected Labour voters.

Is she THAT scary and left wing, though?
