And Just Like That... (Sex & The City revival)

OMG so this has premiered it seems, I see they’ve released two episodes… started watching and it’s absolutely ghastly. The acting is horrific and the shameless way they’re handling Samantha’s absence is quite shocking.

And now they’re showing how the girls are struggling with all the wokeness around them. And oop now Big is masturbating. :zombie:

I haven’t seen something this stupid for a long time (and I watch Drag Race Canada AND Italy).

I’d rather watch a show about Samantha without the other three ladies than this show, to be honest. :(

OMG, why haven’t they done that? New on HBO: Samantha

I've only watched the first episode, but I thought it was...fine? It's literally catching up the women in their fifties (?) and I think they all behaved kind of how you'd expect them to at that point in their lives? Yes some of it was a bit laboured and sledgehammered in (the scene with Miranda in her college was mortifying and didn't really ring true) but I can forgive that as the show is clearly trying to do some immediate world building to get it all out the way quickly.

Is Lisa the new main character to add to the original three? I thought she was gorgeous, and seemed to fit in really well with the dynamic without being a Samantha rewrite so I do hope so.

<don't read if you haven't watched>
LOVED the ending scenes too, which became obvious once the juxtaposition of Big and the piano, which initially seemed a bit random became clear.
I LOVE that Charlotte inadvertently KILLED BIG by forcing Carrie to attend :D
The shot of Carrie's beloved SHOES in the shower as she ran to him made me lol too, with the inference that Big DYING would be deemed a big enough emergency for Carrie to not mind them getting destroyed

Anyway, I thought it was fine. Lots of things were set up (does Miranda have a drinking problem for example?), and if people don't put too much pressure on it, I think it could easily build itself into a soapy but fun show of its own.

Jesus Christ did we watch the same show? You two watch too much Real Housewives so this looks fine to you.

The shoe bit in the end was so stupid, because they had to zoom in on them as if the viewer wouldn’t get it.

This show is basically just the Real Hosuewives of New York but DRAMATISED though :D I didn't go into it expecting genre-defining scripts or acting - it's a bit of fun soapy fluff, give me the tragic (and occasionally amazing) fashion and New York lifestyle porn :disco:

Anyway, I still have episode 2 to watch :ShockedSenhit:

Yes, one shouldn’t expect much, I was just shocked because I haven’t watched something as bad as this for years.

I’ll continue watching of course, mostly for the home decor and to hate on Carrie.

I haven't got sky Comedy or whatever its on so I have this all on series link at a family members and gonna binge it when I feel like it :disco:

I can’t WAIT to tuck in, but I am up at 4 am tomorrow and really should be thinking of going to bed.

just watched this with two friends (one very enthusiastic).
i liked the story arch, i didn't particularly care for the smaller episodes. i liked how the handled samantha and wondered if a new funeral craze would emerge. i hated charlotte and karen. i mean miranda. i could see myself growing old into mr big. only less big and hopefully without a heart attack or a carrie.

:basil:

so nice to see mia from the morning show! i'll watch the rest for sure.

i know it was extremely silly but i was genuinely moved by some of it and i always appreciate talk of death in mainstream entertainment.

Well I didn’t hate it but the second episode was a lot better. I think it could have legs in a limited run but probably much like the return of Will & Grace interest will quickly wane.

I found myself thinking about Grace & Frankie far more than SATC.

Poor Samantha done dirty.

Someone needs to make a SATC supporting character name generator. Sometimes when someone says or mentions a supporting character's name in full, I'm expecting a punch line to follow as they can never be "normal".
