Captain Sir Tom Moore DEAD

No shade to this dude, but he really does shed light on how closed, self-interested and myopic this country is. Who the media pays attention to, who we by extension are told to pay attention to, not only shows up how we see ourselves, but who and what parts of that self we consider important.

There was an old brown pensioner who raised loads of money for corona during a Ramadan walk. Why did he get a fraction of the attention? You know why. Little Keir Starmer can't be arsed to comment on half the fuckery taking place in this country, but he's got time to issue a statement 20 mins after this dude in his hospital.

I mean, FFS doesn't even cover it.

The BBC asked someone earlier "so what was Tom Moore - the man really like?"

I don't know what answer they were expecting. "Oh he was a proper Josef Fritzl, you just wait there's a whole family down there".

That annoys me with anyone who carks it like that, though. Every single soldier/ sailor who dies in duty is always “such a kind, generous person...” blah blah blah.

Then why have most of the people I’ve met from the services been cunts?

Then why have most of the people I’ve met from the services been cunts then?

Whilst his passing is sad, the BBC are overdoing it JUST A BIT. They had some journalist falling over themselves with superlatives.

"BRITAIN NEEDED A FIGURE LIKE SIR TOM MOORE TO HELP GET THEM THROUGH THE PANDEMIC. HE BOOSTED THE NATION'S SPIRITS IN OUR DARKEST HOURS ETC."

Channel 4 were much the same. Fifteen minutes of it and they clearly ambushed Sir David Attenborough for an awkward comment when he was on to talk about something else.

Captain Sir Tom masks only £2.75 on eBay!

At least we won’t have those awkward video interviews where Naga Munchetty asks a question then there’s a delay while Captain Tom’s daughter hears the question and repeats the question to Captain Tom and then we have to wait ten seconds for the answer.

Well his Twitter bio makes him sound like QUITE the catch:

well that’s what you get when you listen to people from Milton Keynes of all places!

although I love #CFC, the Ozone layer can go fuck itself!
