Democrats are in a disarray far worse than the Republican party has EVER been in.

The roles were reversed not even a decade ago, but this is still the worst kind of political disarray in American history.

this is a hot take. The Republican party is in such disarray that it doesn't even exist without Trump. a party devoted to a cult. it just happens that right now the cult could win again.

however yes they are in an insane mess. he will have to drop out this week right? surely he can't ride this out, they must know. I read a New York Times piece about Biden's inner circle, the loyalists - they're tiny (in number not height) and mostly family. the President can't baracade himself in, and definitely not right now.

if he really believes he should stay on the ticket, he should make a live address to the nation and make his case for it. and then when polling comes in, stand down respectably and let them appoint miss Kamala.

He should just ask for an open convention with him as a candidate if he is so sure he is the best one for the job.

*creepy whisper* there's a reason why he isn't

Y'all are deluded.

When was the last time TWO THIRDS of either party was PUBLICLY begging their own candidate to give up with absolutely no clear replacement in sight? It's absolutely tragic and embarrassing and it's completely the party's fault. His age was a concern from the beginning and became increasingly so throughout his presidency. The Democrats should've prepared a replacement but they stupidly underestimated both the mental pressures of the US presidency as well as Trump's enduring appeal and now they're stuck

Kamala is a placeholder at best. Her Vice-Presidency itself was token af.

The Republicans are united for now, but they'll spend the next coming decades redundantly looking for their next Trump. And they'll fail.

This is only a "hot take" to people trying to delude themselves that this is 'normal'.

Joe, Jill, and Hunter standing alone against the entire party trying to take the old man's keys away so more pedestrians don't get mowed down.

Trump’s VP literally called him America’s Hitler, and Nicki Haley hasn’t been much more complimentary!

WTF does that have to do with anything? The elections are FIVE MONTHS away and the Democrats can't decide on a candidate! Because the one they do have is so unfit that MOST of the party is totally fine publicly demanding he gives up. If the Republicans were under these exact same circumstances y'all would've never made this much excuses for them.

Trump's awfulness is, unfortunately, besides the point.

They’re not in disarray. They just have one big problem and that’s a very old but very respected leader.

The democrats are largely aligned these days compared to the Republicans who are a messy mix of various right wing philosophies begrudgingly joining forces to make sure they regain power. They’re awful but they’re just better at playing the game

Not even that. They're just the status quo which gives them a natural advantage.

Also, I'm talking strictly about the party in the context of this election and their lack of preparation for it. Under normal circumstances, I think they're both kinda messy... Which is more of a feature of democracy than a red flag.

Sorry I don’t agree with anything you’re saying :D

The Republican Party are absolutely everything and anything EXCEPT a status quo :ToneNervous:

They are the status quo. That's their platform. Why do you think fear is their most common tactic? Their rhetoric always appeals to the 'good old days'.

The democrats definitely sleepwalked into this problem but to be fair nobody expected Biden to perform this badly in debate - we were all shocked. And the democrats were relying on Donald’s court cases and messy infighting for reelection which was actually working … until the debates.

Give them credit for actually trying to pivot and make a bold change this late in the game, I didn’t think they had it in them, but by God they’re trying. And it’s not an easy thing to do. They probably haven’t vetted the candidate senators anywhere near as much as they would like to if they’re going to put them on the ballot at the DNC

Tick tock

And why is the West Wing always so PROPHETIC?

Hurry up Pelosi you still have time to find your Matt Santos!

Wanting to roll back rights in the country 100 years is not status quo
To them IT IS. They want to reform the country "as it was". When gays just had to live in the closet and the only way to increase your wages was by "just working hard". It's delusional because the circumstances have changed, but they'd rather fight for it than accept any change. See Project 2025.

My point is, the Democrats will always be on the defensive because they're always pushing for change, which requires justification on their part. Conversely, all the Republicans have to do is sit back and criticize and poke fun.

You've created a narrative that fits exactly into July 2024. There have been multiple occasions in the last 10 years when the Republican party has been an absolute shambles, and in many ways still are. The Republicans do anything but sit back and poke fun. They didn't exactly sit back on January 6th 2021.

I'm simply commenting about the party's VALUES. Project 2025 spells those values out clearly and perfectly. It's an attempt (and likely a futile one) at reverting the country to 'reflect' values that are no longer shared by everyone. That's all I'm saying.
