Any objection to either combining this thread and the election thread or closing one of them? They are so similar, I can’t even figure out how to sort posts between them, per @AGinAg (39)’s request
I prefer to keep them separate, mainly as a historical record of Moooy's thoughts on Biden's viability leading up to the election.

I'm enjoying the side discussion about presidential vs. parliamentary systems I am seeing on twitter atm. Imagine Joe Biden doing PMQs every week during this? He'd be LONG GONE.

I hope he gets to have a good retirement for at least a few years. For all of his flaws, he’s a good person who generally wants what’s best, and he did beat Trump in 2020. He has probably been the best president of my lifetime

Why do people who give these briefings off the record never just speak like NORMAL PEOPLE?

Just say he's thinking about handing in his notice, Barbara!
This is their 15 minutes of fame

Biden is being pushed out now. Even his closest aids seem to be nudging him to quit at this point.

The likely compromise is a Harris ticket, as it opens up the possibility for many in the Biden administration to latch on to her to keep their jobs and influence.

Tbh it's nice that his party is being very patient with him. They could just as easily WHISK his ass out unceremoniously.

This, but about the Bidens' dog who keeps mauling civil service agents.

Such a GOOD BOY

Moulton didn't have to say that. They're just throwing him under the bus at this point.

In hindsight, his presidency was fine. But whatever political legacy has is now getting majorly tarnished.

Disasgree. These last few weeks of drama will eventually be forgotten. What won’t be forgotten is if he refuses to step down, the caucus gradually turns their back, Trump wins and takes back the house in the process.

That will tarnish his legacy. If he goes before the DNC his legacy will be protected.

I dunno, I feel like from now on whenever his name is mentioned people will know him as "that stubborn century year old president who didn't know when to stop".

It's ultimately irrelevant though tbh because his policies will go on to speak for themselves. He's a public servant, not a celebrity. The external reputation will not erase the work he's done.

I dunno Ruth Bader-Ginsberg ruined her entire quite staggering legacy by refusing to step down.
