oh I LOVE Happy Mistake. gorgeous. don't have the energy for the rest yet

It's much more high energy than the jazz albums. She put on her Shirley MacLaine wig and said "will a Fosse neck do it?"

Remind me again why we were expecting something different? She was done and dusted with Chromatica 5 minutes after she dropped it. Almost as if she needed just the bare minimum to keep the gays in tow, only to dump THIS on your laps. And now your crotches are covered in shit and you're probably gonna end up with an infection.

I'm sure this is gay drug music to somebody.

I mean, I'd accept this were she not about to release another separate album. There's a clear dual track Gaga that exists post-ARTPOP/Joanne, which treats stuff like Cheek To Cheek/this and Shallow/Die With A Smile as the centrist pitch to mums and dull straights that care about respectability, while she pumps out the faggot bangers to the queens that were there from day one at the same time.

I have no doubt I will be taking stimulants to the single she releases next month, which those of us who prefer good popstars will enjoy.

I mean it’s no GAGA EXTRAVAGANZA but it’s cute and I’ll definitely put it on rotation especially for cleaning house

Holy shit.

"Happy Mistake" is AMAZING.
It's stunning.

And the irony of the fan reaction online is not lost on the second verse. This is a person saying "you all loved me while I was a fucked up mess, and that was extremely confusing and traumatic". Cut to the gays: we liked you better like that, give us that again. You can tell from watching her live performances of the ARTPOP era (Do What U Want on Alan Carr, Artpop on Jimmy Fallon) that she was really unwell and depressed. All her career choices since then telegraph very clearly that she doesn't want to go back to being that girl (Chromatica being the project she was clearly the least invested in over the last decade).

I get that the tease / marketing / visuals that accompanied this album suggested something different than the majority of this album - and I think dropping Happy Mistake + The Joker as an EP might have felt more like a visual / sonic match - but it is what it is.

i am blown away by Happy Mistake. lead single material. it's truly immaculate. talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show-stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before.

it has absolutely no business being on this ear-cancer-inducing shite album and i hope the Little Monsters bully her for subjecting us to this heterosexual torture.

I feel as if I ought to be a bit more target audience for this than most of moopy. But fuck me, it's workmanlike and downright TRITE.

If you take 'World on a String', 'If My Friends Could See Me Now', 'Smile', 'The Joker', and 'Happy Mistake' you have a cute little EP that just about fits the artwork and how the album was teased.

There's a few other tracks that I quite like and will bung on a easy listening playlist for chopping veg to, but I never need to hear her take on 'Oh, when the Saints' again.
