Lana Del Rey - Blue Banisters

the streaming numbers for these new ones are rubbish. I feel like her "strategy" of randomly throwing out material on unannounced dates (not to mention announcing a new album per month) is hurting her at the minute.

Blue Banisters with a non-chaotic push could be big. it feels like she doesn't have a record label right now and ever since LMLYLAW dropped.

I’ve never actually listened to a full album by her. I might check through Spotify too see if anyone has a nice career spanning playlist best of that isn’t ridiculously long.

just listen to Norman fucking Rockwell!, beb!

and then loop back to Ultraviolence and prepare to buckle up for the LDR stan experience! also known as: highly rewarding misery porn masochism!

I started with Ultraviolence but that was a choice. I'd go BTD/Paradise, NFR, LFL, UV, Honeymoon, and... Chemtrails?
i dont know her mariah carey GIF

Apparently there is no Jack or Rick on this album. New song was added this week and it's unlikely to arrive on July 4th as previously promised :eyes:

This is unrelated to my dUb-shaming earlier, but it really bemuses me how angry Lana's fans get at her for stuff like this. She's surely one of the more prolific album artists around these days? It's been THREE MONTHS since her last LP :D

God help these queens if they ever discover Kate Bush.

*I’m not part of the angry mob this time around because I expect it from her at this point* but she is the only artist I know of who will provide a date certain (“new album Blue Banisters out July 4!” ... “Chemtrails out Sept 4” “Violet Bent over the Grass out Jan 4” etc) and then not even address it when the release date rolls around and nothing happens. I am fine with her lack of desire to do any promo, or delays, but it just looks sloppy at this point especially when it’s not acknowledged, and creates unnecessary frustration.

TBD, hopefully to make the album listenable.

the artwork is fantastique and she looks amazing in the teaser.

She's clearly at loggerheads with her label - she makes a thing, decides a date and then the label go "erm...first of all, that's a Sunday, secondly vinyl takes months to organise at the mo' and third, that cover is shit". At which point, she sulks for a bit, records another 6 songs that she wants on the album instead of what she's already delivered and gives up until she gets a video budget. Meanwhile, weed gets smoked and another 40 songs are listlessly scribbled until it's time to record again and the wheat is sorted from the phoned-in chaff with varying levels of success.

I love the sound of that conversation with the record execs that starts, "First of all, that's a Sunday..."

Both the new cover and that clip of her singing are giving me TWILIGHT aesthetic vibes. I hope she's team JACOB.

Screaming at her selling point telling everyone "HEY! it sounds like my old stuff, come stream!! I swear, xoxo!!" in these depths.
