Melodifestivalen 2022: Deltävling 3 - Avicii Arena (again)

I think Faith is going to be more ballad/midtempo, Anders probably an uplifting ballad whereas Linda is clearly going RAUCOUS PARTY BANGER :disco:

Yes, I had been thinking Faith's description of hers was probably the one I trusted the LEAST :D

@Penelope - Could your dream of a Linda-fronted Piga och dräng be about to come true? :o
I'm CROSSING EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW :disco:

Honestly though, if she doesn't know by this point that a full on MAIDS-A-BURNIN' DANSBAND ROMP is her best route back to the final at this point in her career, I CAN'T HELP HER

Schlagerdivas ranked from most to least likely to be TERFs

1. Carola (OBVIOUSLY)
2. Sanna Nielsen (YOU KNOW I'M RIGHT HERE)
3. Pernilla Wahlgren (though has probably been mollified by her children/NEED FOR REALITY TV CELEBRITY)
4. Sonja Aldén
5. Kikki Danielsson
6. Charlotte Perrelli
7. Shirley Clamp
8. Lena Philipsson
9. Linda Bengtzing

(WHO AM I MISSING?)
I think it’s quite poor form that your top five likeliest terfs are all the elderly ones.

I actually have a slight sense this year that I'm not being totally delusional in thinking we might see her again this season, for once... :o

Honestly though, if the stars can't align for her in SLOT SIX of the KINDEST HEAT HISTORICALLY for aging schlagerdivas with a G:son + upcoming star collab, I think we can at least find some peace in knowing nothing was likely capable of doing it for her.

Girls we need more Linda avatars! Linda signatures! Maybe even a LINDA BANNER!!

I'm sure I've got some glamorous pics from the London Ta Mig promo gig at the RVT :D

That night was the HOTTEST of HOT MESSES :disco:
How did I miss THAT.

My fondest Eurovision memory at the RVT is VAL turning up (in her white dress) to do a turn and then chatting to her whilst she waited for her Uber.

Mine is getting a hug off Shirley Clamp before she rushed out the smokers side door after she finished the first (and last) date of her world tour :disco:

Anders Bagge - Bigger Apple Tree
I’m sitting here
In my apple tree
There’s a guiding light shining down on me

I can see the dawning of my life
Bigger than the universe

Just take my hand
Put your trust in fate
Let us leave this world for a better place

A place where all the darkest days are gone
And everyone’s a champion

Hear, my heart is
beating like a symphony
And every word is poetry
We are, we are

Reaching for the stars like
satellites up in the sky
In a world of you and I
We are, we are
Bigger than the universe

As I’m sitting here
In my apple tree
There’s a rain of hope pouring down on me

I can see the sunrise of my soul
Bigger than the universe

Forever young
Join the ride with me
There’s an open road to eternity

We’re dancin’ on the edge,
we’re wild and free

Hear, my heart is
beating like a symphony
And every word is poetry
We are, we are

Reaching for the stars like
satellites up in the sky
In a world of you and I

Well, I’ve got the diabet now. I can well imagine this will soar through without an issue despite the fact it would be a nailed-on last place for the UK if we sent it to Eurovision (See also John Lundvik’ non-Mamas entries).

In general Linda's reviews are mixed positive. Most say it's easily her best since 2011 and much more suited to her energetic performance style. But there also seems to be a feeling that it's not *quite* on par with her first 3 hits.

Linda Bengtzing - Fyrfaldigt hurra!
Of course, Linda Bengtzing is singing quirky lyrics, with certain bittersweet elements, which makes the song feel very Bengtzing. This could definitely work if people are hungry for a Bengtzing comeback, but I miss something unique in the hook that sticks around.

Linda Bengtzing does Slå mig hårt i ansiktet with a schlager twist. It is not early Linda but it is so much better than what she has put up with in recent years. I really like the drive, which feels updated, and a much better fit for Linda's infectious stage energy than her last two. A pleasant surprise, and I really long to see this on stage.

In general, it seems like Lancelot the acoustic twink and Anders Bagge are, predictably, set to sail through this semi. But Linda has a decent shot at top four.

Schlagerprofil are fucking CANCELLED for losing their minds over Lancelot while giving Linda a review that leads with all the negative spin possible while also saying they 'really like it'

The STEAL IS ON

They were tepid/cautious on Still Young too and that turned out to be absolutely fabulous

Imagine one of us doing these reviews I would die

“LINDA IS GOING TO WIN EUROVISION!!”

“LANCELOT BORING TWINK FUCK OFF”

but at least it would be honest

Review summary

Cazzi Opeaia
A cute but somewhat low-impact slice of 2010s electro-pop - think Sigrid and Marina & The Diamonds' lighter moments. Coldplay-esque strings on the verses. Very catchy and likeable, possibly more for the headphones than the stage though?

Lancelot
Some reviews say this is boring waiting-room music, but those that like it REALLY like it, and think it's a clear finalist. Classic old-school songwriting with emotional lyrics, harkens back to classic Swedish singer-songwriters of the 70s like Ted Gardestad. With a clear run at the under 30 vote this week and a song that will have nostalgic appeal to older voters, this is a lock for the top 4, most likely top 2.

Lisa Miskovsky
As you'd expect from Lisa, this is a soft and classy slice of country pop. A little low-impact, but she excels at this kind of thing. The backing vocals on the chorus have a slightly ABBA-ish quality. Could go either way.

Tribe Friday
Scuzzy indie-pop with an early 00s meets Blur vibe. Most reviewers regard it as filler, but I'm always wary of dismissing a band entry...

Faith Kakembo
Another slow, some might say dreary, soul ballad from Faith that never really reaches a crescendo. It does have a gospel choir though, and if she really sings out on the night she might be able to elevate it.

Linda Bengtzing
See above

Anders Bagge
Another Tell the World I'm Here / We Are Your Tomorrow style MOR uptempo that would fit nicely as an entry from Denmark. It does build up a lot though, even throwing in a (pre-recorded) children's choir at the end. An easy, obvious finalist, but nothing special in the grand scheme of things. The selling point is clearly that it's him.

The Aftonbladet blog on Cazzi:
Cazzi Opeia’s I Can't Get Enough is a nice little pop gem with disco influences, but far from the Alcazar side of disco and much more Agnes. it’s uptempo and joyous. Classic pop with a mix between Zara Larsson feel and Anges latest disco album. And a chorus that repeats the title six times. Not bad at all.

Well given than 95% of what we hear is prerecorded vocals I don't think it will make such a difference :eyes:
If it's a stripped back acoustic folk track, I'm not entirely sure it's gonna be that sort of affair...

What I AM more worried about is the PRESS PLAYING UP THE "LOVE RAT LINDA HOMEWRECKED POOR LITTLE LANCELOT" ANGLE!
