"Young At Heart" really is one of the most unlikely hits...and a great one for Six Degrees Of Separation fans because Siobhan Fahey co-wrote it and that's Craig Gannon on guitar...did the fiddler not sure for a chunk of the royalties after it was in an advert or something?

Wikipedia says that the original is indeed credited to all three Nanas and Hodgens but that The Bluebells version is Hodgens, Fahey and the aforementioned fiddler. Dunno how different they are.All of Bananarama co-wrote it, didn't they? It's on their first album, albeit in a quite different version.

Usually 2 but it was cut to 1 during the Proms and none on the weeks when The Sky At Night had the Thursday slot.
The Bananarama version of Young At Heart is so much better
Am I right in thinking that when it was rereleased in the 90s, 'Young At Heart' held a Madonna single from #1?
It was really confusing me thinking about it until I realised it didn't hit #1 until the rerelease.
Looking at the date (March 93), it wouldn't appear so...
"Life On Your Own" is a great record but poor Phil Oakey - he looks like he's been gene-spliced with Fish from Marillion in his sleep.
I think I must have missed the neil performance. Who else was on?
I hadn't considered that around this time I was banished to my bedroom each week to watch The Young Ones on our black and white portable that needed subtle retuning with the dial every five minutes or so, and a not so subtle smack on the side of it in between that to stop the picture rolling.
It would be really unfair if he was given how much of that show was on video but then, he clearly mouths the word "cunt" instead of "coat" so it could be his own fault...Is he one of the earlier broadcast edited version casualties?
Worse, I had to sneak into my brother's bedroom to watch it with him on HIS black and white portable with a tuning dial.
You win.Um, WORSE. It was our TV as I shared a bedroom with my brother.
And yeah, it's credited to all of them but I seem to recall it being said it was just Siobhan writing with her boyfriend REALLY...
I always loved the Billy Idol record, it's quite moody. The Kane Gang were singing about life under Maggie, the message of which is somewhat lost in the song.Funny episode this - a few things I remember more fondly than they sound now - The Kane Gang sound really weedy and that Billy Idol song now feels thin and contrived.
I don't post them there, I just post Alan Jones' chart analyses... but you're welcome to post them if you want, I won't complain! The charts are posted by another poster. I'm sure he won't mind either...@Robbie, can you post the chart each week here like you do on ukmix?
Or if not, do you have any issue with me copying your post there and pasting it here?![]()
