Happy Pumpkin New Year! Spending the afternoon checking in with some reviews of the DARLINGTON branch...
Tired and unhygienic
Visited whilst waiting for a train at Darlington Station. The food and drink was reasonable, staff were pleasant and attentive. The environment is woeful. Flaking ceiling tiles, damp and damage to same, stains on walls and broken furniture. I'm sure it's an environmental health breach.

Avoid
Curt service, flies in the waste container on the counter and CHARGED NINE POUNDS THIRTY EIGHT PENCE for a MEDIUM COFFEE, which I did not realise until I had left the station and seen my bank notice. DAYLIGHT ROBBERY IN MISERY.

Absolutely shocking, use Costa…
This is by far the worst food experience I’ve ever had, family of 4 coffees, juices and sausage or bacon sandwiches before the train. Microwaved bacon or sausage sandwich’s, yes you heard me correct, microwaved. The kids sausage sarnies were terrible bread tough as anything as it’d been in the mic and 1&1/2 sausage per sandwich, what’s they done with the half??
My bacon I opened it in front of the server to add sauce and instantly decided I couldn’t possibly eat it it looked like plastic. I said I’m sorry that’s simply inedible and pushed it towards her, she took it chucked it in the bin and served someone else, no refund or anything offered. Unbelievable….

There’s no way that this isn’t a Moopy poster!

Some mixed reviews for the Plymouth Pumpkin though despite the funky decor

Just been served by a woman who has major issues with customer service. I was given a single use plastic knife and as I was eating in (not that I was asked) I asked if I could have a metal knife. She begrudgingly gave me one which was dirty after seeing me clean it she offered to clean it?! Then when she tried to give me the plastic knife again I said I didn't need it as that's why I asked for the metal one and she proceeded to bash me for having a lid on my hot chocolate which she gave me without choice! Unbelievably bad customer service. Avoid at all costs!

I am appalled at the sizing of my sausage. I received half a sausage in my morning bap and it was very dry and I was only given one pack of ketchup - Wasn’t even Heinz . The bread, is tough and seems to be stale. It’s worth bringing your sausage bap from home. Disgusted. Would give 0 Stars if possible
This remains my favourite review I think

Serving perfectly cooked rolls is the hallmark of this cafe. Here you will be able to order good croissants. A lot of visitors order great latte, hot chocolate or tea.

Overpriced disgusting coffee
Sept 2020 • business

Train station at Sheffield, pain aux choc stale and worse cappuccino I have tasted. Coffee burnt and tasted like dish water. If only I looked round the corner first I would have had a Costa coffee. If this was in Italy you'd be out of business within days.

Luke warm hot chocolate lousy food hygiene miserable staff
Dec 2019 • solo

Bought a toasted sandwich from here (17 dec 11.40 am) and a hot chocolate. Hot chocolate was luke warm, man serving was miserable and barely looked at the customers and when removing my toastie and putting it In a bag he hadn’t even washed his hands since handling money and god knows what else. I suggest basic food hygiene needs teaching to this particular individual!! Won’t be bothering going in again I’ll stick to Costa!

Arrived to order two medium coffees one from the special menu with no customisation to either. The lone staff member was very confused by this and we had to confirm the items 3 or 4 times. Then they were struggling to find on the till. He warned it would take 2-3 mins but it became apparent immediately he wouldn't manage that deadline. 8 mins later he was opening the instruction file to make the second drink and we had no choice to abandon it despite already having paid. When we said we had to leave, he had the gall to shout at us stating he warned it would be 2-3 mins, and for someone who works inside a busy trainstation they should know to give an accurate approximation as we could have lost a lot more money if we had waiting another 8 minutes for the second drink to be made. Barely made the train and on walking past the Costa we could see that 5 of the 6 customers who'd been waiting there had been served in the same time. Please train staff properly or do not leave newbies unsupervised.

Awful, plain and simple

I ended up in here on a Sunday night at 6pm, and it was the only place open. I politely asked the guy who was serving if they had soya milk, as I couldn't see it on the menu. He pointed towards the wall and I was told "Costa is over there". What a delight! Not only strange in this day and age that soya milk wasn't an option, but the rudeness of the staff was unparallel! I assume this particular guy doesn't need to make an effort as the majority of the customers are one offs, but still, come on! I did notice after this that Pumpkin Cafe do not have a Twitter page. A little telling, perhaps?

The server, once Had placed an order for some hot chocolate and cake, picked his nose, picked up a Styrofoam with one hand the used his picked nose hand to place the fingers inside the cup to turn it over. Then he placed the hot chocolate on the counter and then picked up a paper bag for the cake and used said fingers inside the bag big enough for the cake.No thanks I said and just walked out. He looked at me as if I was the problem...

And that was 'Styrofoam' by Warrington quartet Picked Nose Hand from their upcoming LP, inside the big bag.

Gloucester was certainly still open when I was last there about 3 or 4 weeks ago.

I’m sorry, what weirdo goes to a coffee shop at 6pm on a Sunday night?!
