The Celebration Tour 2023 (Greatest Hits)

I think it does, and the last tube that goes via central London is 11:45pm on a Sunday so if it wasn't cut when it was, I was planning to leave about 5 minutes later anyway. 45 minutes is cutting it fine to clear the crowds and it's not a convenient place to be stranded for me at least.

I still had a good time anyway, she got cut off when I went to see her a few years ago so it wasn't exactly a surprise, and I'm not that bothered by the songs that were missed. It's a great show and I was really happy with how big the stage was and how it was used given how far up we were.
Yes it does. Which begs the question, why start at 9pm? Now The O2 actually advertises the scheduled show start times on their website now and Sunday shows regularly start 30-60 minutes earlier than other days.

Moopy, I'm seeing Madonna tonight.

I've seen some posts on social media from people asking anyone that's been not to post anything, any spoilers because it'll ruin it for those still to go.

So to pre warn people I'm friends with on FB and Instagram. Tomorrow morning I will be posting bits on my page. So avoid me for 24 hours if you don't want to see anything.

I'll PM you my details if you want to meet up for drinkies but apparently lots of fans meeting up at All Bar One, so I'll probs be there x

Starting so late that you get cut off early and miss the entire encore is absolutely appalling, and she/her team should be fucking ashamed. I don’t care who she is, I’d be raging!

Hold on, to be fair, that isn't quite right, is it? There were tech issues with the show, I thought?

Don't get me wrong, as I said in an earlier post, shows should start earlier to be able to deal with stuff like that, but it wasn't "MADGE TURNS UP FOUR HOURS LATE", was it?

there were tech issues with the first show no? the second one started "on time" (9pm) but Sunday has an earlier curfew so it should've started earlier.

that said they missed 10 minutes and the encore looks shit anyway so BOO HOO!

I heard they had problems with the video screens. But I’ve been trying to avoid so I’m not certain.

To be fair, though, that second comment is bollocks. As if you’ve paid £400 for a ticket and don’t get what (I presume) are two of the biggest hits?

I have no idea if it was tech issues or not, but if it was, it would be nice if there was some kind of announcement to the audience to explain any delay? Because otherwise everyone is putting the blame on the artist.

Out of her big hits, "Like a Virgin" is one that I don't care for that much, so I'm most sad about missing "Bitch I'm Madonna"

I can't be too mad as my boyfriend bought our tickets and I told him upfront that £150 was the limit of what I was willing to pay, so when he went ahead and bought more expensive tickets anyway, that's what I sent him :D

Ooh yes please do! And maybe a photo and your real name so I know what to look for :D

Oh was it? I didn’t read outside of this thread so didn’t realise it was that, in which case there is a reason. But still, this is a concert people are paying ridiculous amounts for (willingly, but still) - to not be able to adapt so people get what they have paid for is just plain rude.

I was listening to a radio present who went on Sunday and she was a bit miffed too. She didn't mention any technical issues.

Apparently there were camera issues on the Sunday show, they were supposed to start earlier because of the Sunday curfew but weren't able to, hence the chop.

You'd think they would have a decent continency plan where they have a Plan B sequence set up to skip songs like
Mother & Father and Little Star
so they're not forced to stop after a ballad and just finish! :square:

But @Epponnee Rae said it started at 9pm, when it was scheduled.

Oh I read it was supposed to start earlier on Sunday. For the reasons that were mentioned above.

I saw it tonight and it was great :disco:

She started singing at about 9PM and finished at about 11PM.

Well that was pretty amazing. More like a theatre show.

I'm a very basic bitch tho so I'd have loved it no matter what.

Madonna looked amazing. Great atmosphere.

Gutted she missed out a couple of classics tho.

But all in all, loved it.

I will be posting bits on my FB tomorrow so avoid me if you don't want to see anything.

That’s the confusing bit. But, the showtimes email my friend had was from his credit card concierge service, who booked the tix on his behalf, so maybe they were wrong.
We didn’t get one of the songs previously mentioned as being expendable. But they could’ve easily also ditched some of the crappy “acting” bits that remained in 🤣

Still buzzing from last night! Queen
gave us all the hits (ish) the way God intended them to be done with no faffing around. This show had so much heart in it. I honestly think it's her best since Confessions.

it sounds like she's singing this one

completely live with no backing track at all? which surprises me because it's not an easy song to sing range-wise and the vocal is actually quite brilliant. to see Mercy lipping along is beautiful.

A lot of the show is live.
There are some clearly fully lip-synched songs ("Everybody", "Erotica") and there are some that are 100% live like "Bad Girl", and for most of the rest she drifts in and out of live singing - sometimes on top of a very faint backing track ("Rain", "Live To Tell"), but other times (probably most of the show) it's quite a loud backing track.
Like last night in 'Rain' she missed a line and it was clearly fully live and the backing track was super faint. A bit like when she fell at the Brits.

My favourite performance of last night.

I would honestly say that if she maintains her health and fitness and manages to get on-stage on time like she did last night and deliver the show 100%, then it is the best show I have seen from her since Confessions, and for the fans that are considering going but are not sure, I would strongly recommend you try to go if you can afford it. I fully understand it's annoying when truncated versions of the show are performed when you've fully paid up though, so I totally accept that, and it did annoy me at Madame X when the second show I went to missed the entire first section.

It's not just because she does the hits but there are just so many Easter eggs (I think one of the papers mentioned that?) and for a lifelong fan it's like The Holy Grail of all Madonna tours. So many references, but also there is just a lot of HEART to this show. There is a central emotional core which had been lacking from her tours I felt since she had gone for the LiveNation 360 deal where they became these big money making performance machinery pieces.

Well a lot of the clips I've seen lately are having some FOMO effect on me so I'll probably get standing tickets once they go on sale early next year.

She started at 21.15 last night but we got the full setlist anyway. Curfew be damned.
Sadiq Khan was in the audience so maybe she swung a favour or two.
Amazing show but one of the worst audiences of any gig ever. They were awful.

Ooh what was wrong with the audience?

I'll see her twice this weekend in Antwerp. I guess there's no strict curfew for concerts in Belgium, so she'll probably start at 10 if we're lucky :eyes:

Of all the clips I’ve seen so far, the audiences have been terrible. Nothing like any Madonna concert I’ve been to.
