This is vulgar, but I love it
I was about to say there is no such thing as the word "rightist", but there is:
CUNT
CUNT
I fucking hate the word leftist
First of all, it's not even a word.
To be fair, no one knows what liberal means any moreOh really? Fair enough then. My hatred comes from seeing right wing media using it as a negative connotation.
Like the way they’ve tried to poison the word liberal, without any irony of what the word actually means
Because it would require them to remember the values on which their party was founded! Why wouldn’t a Labour government do that?
Because it would require them to remember the values on which their party was founded!
Driven by their core socialist values I'm sure, and not because even Nigel Farage is on sideBut... they are doing it?
it's not a binary. he can clearly stake out his own personal position on the rights of trans people to exist and live a normal life without contradicting the supreme court ruling.I hate to always be playing devil’s advocate because I do deplore all of this, but the PM/Government setting themselves in opposition to a Supreme Court ruling would be extremely difficult.
and if you hate to, then don't.I hate to always be playing devil’s advocate because I do deplore all of this, but
Not at all. It is literally as simple as "We accept the ruling, but disagree with its implications, and shall bring forward legislation to correct this failing in the law."I hate to always be playing devil’s advocate because I do deplore all of this, but the PM/Government setting themselves in opposition to a Supreme Court ruling would be extremely difficult.
and if you hate to, then don't.
No, it wouldn’t. The Supreme Court’s job is to say what the law is based on a strict reading of the language in the current legislation. Starmer could very easily say that whilst they considered the current act to mean one thing, they accept the Supreme Court’s ruling that it means something else. They should then immediately move to amend the legislation so that it actually means what they thought it did. Parliament is not only allowed to respond to a Supreme Court ruling in that way, they are actually expected to.I hate to always be playing devil’s advocate because I do deplore all of this, but the PM/Government setting themselves in opposition to a Supreme Court ruling would be extremely difficult.
