Tokyo 2020 - Day 0 - The Opening Ceremony (Fri 23 July)

They're always quite DULL given that you have to have 3 hours of athletes TROOPING IN as the main part of the GIG
WAS the London one good? Am I Mandela-ing myself?

They had that flaming rings thing, the ornamental birthday candle torch

God there’s a lot riding on the torch lighting at this rate. Someone’s just going to press a button or something aren’t they

That LED square in the nearby baseball field is a bit distracting, or is that the drone parking space?

What an inefficient way of going up the stairs. I guess they were the only ones who knew how to attach the flag

The London opening ceremony was pretty impressive, but it's hard to judge objectively as a Brit. It's certainly considered an impressive moment within recent British culture.

Hoping the ball on Mount Fuji is going to float like you can do with Malteasers.

or evolve into Charizard

How unfair that Japanese girls get to wear charming sailor suits and the boys have to dress like accountants from the 80s.
