UK General Election 2024 - July 4th

How are you likely to vote?

  • Total voters
    67
yes god forbid we do something the country now wants and that would be financially beneficial for us and our neighbours. why even ENTERTAIN such a LUDICROUS NOTION!!!

interesting that the last two polls have Lib Dems on 61 and 72 seats. I think their highest total until now was 64 in 2010?
2005 was their peak - 62 seats. Nick Clegg increased the vote share in 2010, but lost five seats overall.

Anyway, only today did I discover that my Green candidate is a queer, disabled, feminist milliner and visual artist :disco:

How could my vote go anywhere else?
I can’t believe you would openly support a milliner.

I think 431 seats for Labour is the lower end of expectations personally. I still think they could get to 450.

I mean he's probably right, we fucked the deal we had and anything the EU will offer will be in their favour which the UK wouldn't accept, its going to take years to negotiate anything near what we had.
I mean, it will be more in the EUs favour than the last deal, but being part of the EU under similar conditions to everyone else is STILL beneficial to the UK.

Some of the voices within the EU have said the UK could only rejoin if we accept their terms, and they would make it harder for the UK to leave again.

We'd likely be expected to adopt the Euro and join Schengen. Unfortunately that level of integration will never be accepted by a significant proportion of this country.

I really want the Tories in double figures, I don't want them going over the ton.

I mean, ideally, single figures but let's stay in the realms of probability.

I really can't face the rejoin/ don't rejoin conversation until at least the 2030s.

But HEAVEN FORFEND a politician LEADS rather than FOLLOWS
If the majority of the country wants us to rejoin then by not doing that he is leading. If he ever figures out where he wants to lead us to, we could be in real trouble.

To be sincere for a second, it's quite thrilling for me at least that we're less than 48 hours from the exit poll. It's been 19 years since Labour won a general election. In my life the Tories have been in charge for 31 years out of 43, that's approx 75%.

I'm far from thrilled about Kier (who is?), but there's so much nasty shit we won't have to listen to or read about for at least 5 years, feasibly 10.

Thankfully without Brexit, the Tories have lost their magic weapon and the shitty culture wars stuff just isn't cutting through. I sincerely hope they choose Kemi or Suella who have the mass appeal of scud missiles, and they stay out of office for at least a full decade. I deserve that at least.
Amen

Unfortunately not :(

Moopy does anyone know if my friend will have a problem voting because her passport has a different surname to her polling card? Her passport is double barrelled, her polling card is single.

Not sure, but I doubt it, if the photo is clearly her.

One of my friends voted with an expired passport at the locals so they didn't check very closely, or that doesn't matter either.

I'd definitely try it.

The Electoral Commission website says that the name on your ID should be the same name you used to register to vote. I suspect she might get turned away, but it’s worth a try if she doesn’t have anything else.

I have read further and it says that you need to bring a document proving your name change, such as a marriage certificate, to the polling station.

Hmm I don't know what other ID she has.

Also, is it justifiable to unfriend people who dont vote? I have a few friends that aren't voting because they "don't really know who to vote for/they're all the same so what's the point" :manson:

If they were going to vote Tory or Reform, they should be encouraged not to vote.
