Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Switch)

Gosh, I can't imagine them pandering to the furry faction
Omg my awful bitch monkey said she wants to move. I told her to stay hydrated and goodbye forever

I got Ursala away and as soon as I pressed A for "yes you should, Skank" I stopped responding to her constant 2nd hand clothes giving calls.

I like Goose best and Nibbles is okay. I don't mind the drag queen Tucker, but my set ain't all that. I have lots of moody antisocial men basically (it's hitting too close to home, etc).

One does not simply pander to furries.
One pandas.

I seem to have a reasonable mix. I got Julian the unicorn which makes me very happy (he says glitter after everything!). A couple of the usual sporty ones who ONLY EVER talk about ANYTHING in a way that relates to building their strength of fitness levels. One who appears grumpy until you talk to him. A prissy one. Some kind of ape dude called Rocket who wears pink and says "vroom". And a couple of introverts who make a "subtle" comment that basically translates to "can you sod off please, I'm trying to have a peaceful life here" if you talk to them twice in one day.

One tried to leave and I don't know why as she's a favourite and I talked every day, gave gifts etc but talked her out of it so it's all good.

I've got:

Cherry - Pink dog who gets very passive aggressive if you speak to her more than once per day
Coach - Heavily closeted, gym obsessed bull who I've taken to sending sexually charged postcards purely for my own amusement
Rodeo - Another gym bull with creepy red eyes and a bug fixation. I've stopped talking to him in hopes he takes the hint and fucks off
Piper - Primadonna duck who seems to be suffering from some kind of STD/meth withdrawal as she constantly complains about being itchy
Bettina - Adorable little mouse who is very mumsy and my clear favourite.
Phil - Pheasant(?) with a taste for the finer things. I hated him at first and maliciously built his house on a high cliff with no ramps or bridges, but he's since grown on me
Annalisa - Anteater. Quite bland so far.
Ricky - Grouchy old squirrel who complains about everything, but in kind of an endearing way
Violet - Some kind of disco gorilla. Hints of ideas above her station.
Freckles - Duck with a gambling problem. I got overexcited and practically begged her to move to the island, now I wish I hadn't.

Does the itchy one have a tiny fly jumping off and on her shoulder? You can catch it with your net to stop them itching if it's the same as what I had.

I'm almost worried about my drag queen or king Tucker as I cannot find her anywhere.

Got the bamboo island on my travels tonight. Took in 125,000 bells thanks to the Atlas Moth constantly re-spawning on the coconut trees and I also toughened up to catch 4 tarantulas. That's a lot more efficient than catching bugs and fishing for long stretches, so this will be my new tactic going forward. I've now got a million in my savings (just a mere 1.4m to pay the final loan).

Ah! I have had an itchy one. Will make a mental note of that (so that they can reward me with a horrible t-shirt that I keep for a day in case they get offended before selling it)

I might try an island today if I have time (lol)

I can’t be doing with these pro gamers who dig up everything and make holes everywhere to spawn only tarantulas, and take like 2 hours to get a bag full

I started chopping my island's wood after my last post. That took me 40 minutes, I don't know how that is possible.

I give it to the next one I meet (but they do sometimes put it on immediately).

Does anyone else have the kangaroo with the stood on beetle eyes? She seems to be a terrible mother - not once has she made reference to it and is outside at all hours (possibly looking for trade I'm guessing).

Let’s see... I have
Shari the shitty monkey - gives me a withering comment for speaking to her twice in a day
Rowan the gym tiger - pleasant and pretty tiger colours but a bit one-note
Eloise the yellow elephant - I like her stampy rendition of the town theme, and generally seems ok
Truffles the social media pig - has a Korean bowl cut and should be awful but I think I love her the best. Spends a LOT of time doing DIY inspired by a love drama about trains
Knox the knight chicken - supposed to be cranky but he’s never been to me, maybe recognised my white male energy. His interior looks like either a church or a mass funeral, troubling
Clyde the dopey horse - the Forrest Gump of my town, seems to spend most of his outside time running at full pelt
Hans - the europorn Yeti, his interior is all snow stuff. Pleasant and multilingual
Cashmere - I thought she would be a boring sheep but she’s like an older down-with-the-gays ally, she’s always telling me how fabulous I am baaaaaaby
Finally Norma the cow, she’s nice but so ordinary I had to look up my app to remember who my last villager was

I've done that a couple of times but it does get really tiring.

Pashmina: Fashion aware big sister type goat with blue horns who keeps it real and digs the trenchoats and beanie hats I gave her. A fave.
Goose: Well, just Goose, the dorky gym chicken and sports nutter that he is.
Flurry: Good-natured hamster soul of the village.
Penelope: Irritating, peppy pink mouse with an unnatural bow obsession and tendency to be annoying.
Drago: Japanese Dragon with pink lipstick: spends half the day sleeping, the other half of the day thinking about food, listening to the bugs in his house and walking around outside with the sleeping mask I gave him. Absolute LEGEND.
Graham: Geeky, nerdy hamster who irritated me at the beginning, mainly cause he was the first one at the island's campsite so I HAD to let him move in but he's been a solid add now.
Hamlet: ANOTHER FREAKING HAMSTER but Hamlet is actually quite adorable. Sports nut but he's actually as tall as he is wide, so bless.
Flo: Penguin villager YAY. Uchi-type like Pashmina but more chill.
Dotty: An all time fave Animal Crossing Bunny. Like a far more tolerable version of Penelope.
Lionel: Lion villager with complete illusions of grandeur who looks and behaves like the grandpa of the island despite thinking he's some young, hot up and comer.

I DON'T HATE the lot, really. Penelope is flirting with danger though. If I find her fallen asleep infront of her house at 4am again, I might need to talk to Isabelle. Also, three hamster villagers feels like one too many.

Honestly, I'll farm and work with the things I can work work with as the game intended it. If CJ (fish guy) or the bug fanatic show up, I'll do more fishing and bug hunting that day and sell them what I've got stored in my inventory and I'll buy my 200,000 Bells in Stalks. If that means it'll take me 10 days to pay off the last loan for the house, it'll take me 10 days.

I've cut back on the number of hours I'm playing since the bunny day nonsense began and I just do the basics like rock-hitting, villager interaction and sometimes wood-chopping and harvesting. It's not a race to the finish line and stuff like the tarantula island spawn or time-skipping are really the opposite of what this game is about for me. I'm still "stuck" at a Level 3 rating and that's fine - I'll get to the slight terraforming I wanna do in due course.

Reneigh - one of my original villagers. A horse with very little time for my shit.

Lyman - a lime green koala obsessed with his abs.

Pietro - a gay icon. Pennywise the rainbow sheep. His house gives me anxiety.

Annabelle - a peppy anteater. I invited her to my island because she said she wanted to be a popstar. I stan.

Bree - A mouse who lives in some sort of wellness spa.

Ellie - an elephant who calls me 'lil one'. Nice but dull.

Cesar - my most recent villager. I'm not wild about this gruff gorilla but he does refer to me as 'highness' so at least he knows his place.

Patty - a friendly cartoon cow.

Annalise - another brown horse - friendlier than Reneigh but I'm not as attached.

Tucker - a mammoth. Very Liz Taylor in The Flintstones.

Anyone got oranges and/or peaches who’d like to SWAP? I have pears apples and cherries :)

I recommend the "turnip exchange" site for going to islands wih high rates (it takes ages to queue and the traffic stops and starts you constantly - it took my 6 trips and this lasted over an hour in total). But whatever, I'm now a bellionaire and debt-free :D

I've never seen the game apart from occasional screenshots so I've no idea what characters are generally like, but these character descriptions make me want to meet them all.

My turnips are at 178, which isn't bad. I reckon they might crack 200 tomorrow and then I'm tempted to sell them in my own island instead of waiting and dropping nook tickets on overrun islands.

Turnips: 313 :disco:

For another hour, so if anyone wants to get rid, gates are open.

I have a sheep called Timbre at the campsite. Not showing any interest in moving in, but let's you play "guess the suit of a card" for a random item

Visited SIX nook islands before I found one that was worth anything, finally the bamboo island. I knocked as much bamboo out as I could, ate all the bamboo shoots and coconuts and nicked as many trees as I could fit on the plane. Looks like my Japanese bamboo forest might be off the ground finally.

I had 9 bamboo trees already for the best part of 2 weeks but I’d never seen any shoots growing. Is that unusual or is it just slow?

I’ve only gotten any shoots from the turnip slavechild

Where are you planting them? I know from experience that they do not grow in sand, but they may also be too near something. They should grow a stage bigger everytime a new day starts at 5am.

I've taken the bamboo theme for what is effectively my back garden and am rather pleased with it.

If you take away every last bit of plant life lots of tarantulas will spawn worth 8,000 bells a piece

I caught 30 yesterday

Do you have a particular technique capturing them? I find it very 50/50 so have yet to have the patience to catch more than 6 in one trip.

it also depends on the island in question, make sure bugs like wharf roaches and tiger beetles are spawning and clear everything, this includes digging up all trees, clearing all weeds, flowers and stones

bamboo island is the best for this

Oh I do the sneak thing, I just hoped there was a more time efficient method :)

I finally got some Mums (although no white yet and I don't think red and yellow spawn white), but now I've realised I don't have any lilies. I wish plucking the buds could plant the flower too, it would be so much easier. I think breeding flowers will be my new thing to focus on, but I'm not quite sure how to arrange them yet (I'm going with long columns of 2 in a row for now as it's easier to spot bugs).

Hold A to sneak. When it gets up on its hind legs STOP.. when it drops down again move a touch further... repeat until close enough then release A to catch

I'm a nervous wreck when I do this. The jolt I get when I see those things is ridiculous.

Apparently as you get into more practice you find you can move a bit more before Spidey comes chasing you... I'm not at that stage yet!
