How are you likely to vote?

I normally would be but I'm driving 300 miles the next day. So I might do an early tactical nap and watch the most exciting bits between 2am and 7am.

There are way too many conservative banners on the island for my liking. Not that I'm at all surprised.

From comments and posts I've seen on island FB groups, I can't see Labour getting on on my side of the island, but potentially they will on my shops side.

Electoral calculus says: 72% chance of Labour win on IoW East, 74% on IoW West.

Ooohh ok! I'd never have thought that based on some of the people that live here. That's positive tho.

That’s because the Tories love to talk about this stuff. Mostly whilst bleating about how they are being silenced by an elitist, left wing conspiracy.

I’ve got to be at Crystal Palace at 2pm on the Friday so not ALL night but hopefully enough of it to see some key Tories lose their seats :disco:

Ugh I really wish I'd booked time off but it's a bit too late now, and I have commitments I've agreed to.

I might just try and stay up as late as possible to get a FLAVOUR of the outcome.

What’s going on here at 2pm on a Friday?!?

I look forward to Rishi proving that he is a real England fan by hitting Victor Orban with a folding chair after we lose to Hungary in the quarter finals.

Best for Britain have released their tactical voting guide, which is interesting

However, I take great issue that they are recommending Labour in SNP/Labour marginals rather than having them as vote for your heart. Their reasoning is NONSENSE

Especially because:

The problem appears to be that they don’t accept that the SNP can be actively targeting virtually every seat in Scotland. Which, yes, is dumb.

A pal posed a question this morning. This incarnation of The Labour Party is absolutely diabolical - petty, craven, vindictive, neoliberal wankers. Is that despite the fact that we've had the worst incarnation of the Conservative Party ever or is it because of that fact? Have the Tories, from the coalition forwards, peaking with Johnson and Truss, made politics such a squalid place to be that only certain people are now attracted to it - the squalid and those who know they can survive in an amoral abyss (hence members of Gomez and Blur, people who came out of the major label music industry)?

I don't necessarily agree with your premise, but specifically to the point: Nearly all of the labour shadow cabinet became MPs before Johnson or Truss. And the majority are from 2010 or before.

So it's doubtful they became interested in politics during the worst of our times.

The current mode of the Labour Party is due to a reset after the Corbyn experiment didn’t work. So it’s back to Blair basics. I do think they’ve gone too far, they didn’t need to recruit the centre right to gain power, they could have done it with much better grace and morality. But they opted for lesser of two evils approach. I think my expectations for politicians is a lot lower than many moopers hope for and expect and I admire the optimism but honestly, if you look back a couple of centuries most countries are run by celebrity narcissists, the media or the elite. Even if we got a few years of glorious revolution it wouldn’t change anything long term. Democracies are paramount and must be protected at all costs, but the ironic downside of democracy is that everyone can vote. And most humans are just stupid. It is what it is.

I'm thinking more about the people who will form their new intake, are being parachuted into 'safe' seats. A shadow cabinet will usually be established figures who have performed well in more junior roles and do well on camera but what will things look like in 2029? What culture are they building?
