Eastenders 2023

Well that was fantastic :disco: I wonder how long it'll take them to turn up in Walford.

They've brought back one of the better Peters, though the accent was definitely a bit strange tonight - it sort of sounded like he was trying to put on a more 'rough' kind of voice than his real one, or something?

I really enjoyed it, and using Lauren as a guest to facilitate some of the necessary exposition was a good choice.

Establishing that Ian and Cindy's relationship is still based on a mutual mistrust - rather than her just conning him - also feels sensible. I've no idea how that dynamic plays out long-term, but I'm glad they haven't just gone down the route of Ian being an innocent victim and Cindy being a cold-hearted bitch.

I wonder if they'll be able to resist having him get close to Gina or Anna (or both!) before they find out they're siblings.

Quite surprised they haven't brought back (or re-cast) Cindy Jr. to complete the family.

i enjoyed that but my slow brain was working overtime trying to remember back to plot lines and who was connected to who etc. Lauren was a nice surprise. Peter sounded like a Blazin Squad reject

Real shame that Lauren isn’t coming back full time, but it was a great idea to use her as a way of filling in the blanks for the audience.

They did well trying to fake that they were in France, they even had EU sockets on the walls in the hospital and the villa, but there was a hot and cold tap in the bathroom Cindy was in, and I think they are only found in the UK and Ireland.

Also Chris Clenshaw said that Lauren was only back for one episode ‘at the moment’ but I think she’ll be back at some point, now she is woven into the storyline. They surely have to bring back Cindy Jr at some point too. That’s a storyline too good to miss.

Yeah I wonder if they just don't want to have Peter and Lauren back together too prematurely so they're keeping her at arm's length at the moment while they mine some drama around Peter and one of the Knight girls not realising they're half-siblings etc.

Oh I also appreciated the reveal at the end that Cindy is still holding a torch for George. That helped with the plausibility of the whole thing because honestly, Cindy being back with Ian is an even harder sell than her coming back from the dead.

Adam Woodyatt and Michelle Collins are still fantastic together though.

I so wish we hadn't known about her coming back, the end of Wednesday's ep would have been such a shock moment

I'm also not buying that she's back with Ian. And did they say he's only known a year or so that she was still alive? How did they even meet again etc. There is still a lot to be explained

Wasted character who disappeared into the background almost immediately after his dad's funeral.
Ugh, they started out with some kind of flirtation with Whitney and then abandoned him completely as a character. He had potential, but it seems unless you’re a criminal or have a vital love interest, they don’t know what to do with some people.

I like that they've left just enough still to come out when they're on the square. For example it's a no brainer that Ian will tell Kathy or Sharon about how he and Cindy got back in touch, Cindy will tell George what happened and why she disappeared and so on. We'll get to see the characters' reactions without it feeling like we're going over old ground.

Is the fact that Ian left because he was going to marry Sharon and she tried to murder him just going to be forgotten?

My guess is it'll be brushed over in the space of one scene.

Another returnee later this summer...
Yolande :disco: She's returning with Patrick when he comes back from his current break.

FFS, none of that drama would have happened at all in court. She pleaded guilty. At BEST for the Dangerous Driving offence she’d get a 12 week suspended sentence and a 12 month driving ban.

Is Eastenders going to release all episodes on a Monday throughout Wimbledon?
