Elon Musk is a NAZI BELL END + FLOP BUSINESSES + BREEDING PROGRAM + KET JUNKIE 😡🥱💩🖕 (1 Viewer)

New change to X's block function which will no longer block at all. :bruised:

Feel like this is a baby step to reversing this and showing you accounts you have blocked. Poor baby Elon must be aware he's blocked by so many.

No shade to anyone who's still on Twitter, but I do wonder at what point Musk's trashing of the platform will be enough for people to leave it as it's just getting stinkier and stinkier by the minute. Maybe it's just my warped little bubble but it feels like the whole world has Stockholm Syndrome or something. I long for the day when you're watching a BBC programme or something and they're saying "you can contact us on Bluesky here" rather than "Reach out to us on X, the platform formally known as Twitter"

I think the outcome of the US election may come into play. If Trump wins and puts Musk in cabinet, I think that will be the final straw for a critical mass of people.

If he loses, Musk might even give up on twitter entirely and sell it off, since one of the main reasons he bought it was for influence and he'll have failed.

I think the only reason people finally log off from Twitter is if it becomes completely unusable (arguably already is, but for some reason not for a lot of people).

People have already been given plenty of reasons to leave Twitter because of Musk, and they haven't done so yet. The cultural addiction to it obviously lies too deep to be affected by anything but user experience.

I enjoy Twitter as a platform and will leave when they pry the phone out of my cold dead hand. It’s the most interactive social media platform even with all of its obvious issues with the current owner. Forums aren’t that active, Instagram isn’t there for true interaction and alternatives like BlueSky are pretty shit.

If Trump wins I might have to delete the app. I just couldn’t bear it.

If he loses, the fallout will be spectacular.

Twitter/X doesn't need users to leave for it to tank. Even if Musk keeps the user base stable, he'll continue to lose business to more attractive platforms, especially Instagram and TikTok, who agencies and companies already find much more consistent and profitable.

I’m curious what value Twitter still brings to the brands who continue to use it for advertising. There is absolutely no way on earth I would put any of my marketing spend on Twitter.

I mean it's still retained like 90% of its advertisers so clearly it's still a good source of exposure, numerically speaking. But it's the moderation policies and Musk's behavior that supposedly makes it a liability. Especially when advertisers can simply redirect their spending on more reliable platforms with younger audiences. Twitter is not the top advertising platform for anyone. It's still good, but not the top.

But people use Twitter for jokes, banter, debate and information. There’s no real content engagement. It seems like such a waste of money, unless it’s cheap. But I’m probably missing something given I don’t have an account. Ive been fortunate that every company I’ve worked for has had little to no interest in finding an audience on Twitter. And I certainly haven’t encouraged a change in thinking.

Twitter is the place for instant news for me. It’s fast paced and constantly moving. While it has it’s faults, it’s still one of the main go-to places for a good majority of people.

Now the advertising aspect can be tricky because if you pay for Twitter, you don’t get all the ads and when they incorporated the EVERYONE THAT PAYS GETS A BLUE CHECK they lost a lot of eyes. Also, a lot of companies just don’t want to advertise on Elon’s right wing spaceship anymore which is understandable.

TikTok may be the same but I don’t use it much as I don’t want just videos.

TikTok gets ridiculously high engagement but it still feels like a 15 minutes of fame version of social media - any random can get a million impressions on a video one day and be forgotten the next. People are shifting TikTok into a visual alternative for Google, and they’re connected to what the content is telling them, not the brands that are telling it. As a marketeer I find it to be smoke and mirrors - it’s like spending your money on a lottery ticket. The algorithms are high reward but almost entirely random.

Meta is still the best way to spend money on social media. Unfortunately.

We don’t spend on there anymore but its still a good source of traffic.

The thing with Musk is, not unlike Trump himself, he's incapable of not saying the quiet part out loud. Here he is fully admitting that he turned to Trump because the Biden administration didn't show due deference to him.

Unlike Bluesky, which *optionally* can use another server (not sure anyone bothers) but is essentially just a carbon copy of Twitter but without the Twat-in-chief.

Just deactivated my X account.

Post US election, my feed had just turned into Elon Musk quote-tweeting easily verifiably false nonsense with ’wow’, the last lingering attention seeking gays posting pole and deeply upsetting clickbait videos including one of a child being stabbed in the face(!)

Feeling unburdened by what has been :disco:

Comes to us all. It's time to let X flounder in its own shit, people.

Bluesky is really taking off now. X is done

I didn't think it was possible these days to have that kind of scenario where another new social network can take over like when we went through MySpace, bebo etc in the 00s. But didn't account for the depths Twitter would sink to. It's not there yet obviously but I've seen it happen before and all the signs are there
