Melodifestivalen 2022: Deltävling 3 - Avicii Arena (again)

In my weekly prep ready for him going to Stockholm, I just told Mr Sheena about the importance of tonight, about how Linda must go through, about her back history etc. and he replied “Oh, so she’s like Charlotte from last year but more slutty. Oh and less surgery”.

Pretty much, yeah…

Our JessAn is plugging away this morning :disco:

I love how much solidarity there is amongst our schlager queens. United together in song, melody, and so often, adversity.

I’m not even a LINDA LOON but I’m already unprepared for the fact that she might not win the heat when she has BY FAR the best song.

I'm not listening to anything until the show tonight but you lot are building up my expectations so much. You'd better be right :kim:

I'm really trying to emotionally prepare myself for another 6th and out, but it's really difficult to resist the hope.

The fear I've seen from a lot of bloggers isn't so much that the song is weak (it seems pretty universally agreed that it's her best effort in years) but that the Swedish public are just sick to death of her at this point :D / :(

That and the genre. Let's face it, SCHLAGER ain't gonna scan well with the KIDZ.

Well yes, she is 100% relying on the over 30 vote, because the kids are going to go for LANCELOT in DROVES.

And presumably they'll all be going for Bagge.

Yes :(

But then, everyone BUT Lancelot and Tribe Friday essentially seems to be gunning for the over 30 vote this week, so it's really hard to judge how hard it's going to be for her to crack the top four versus Lisa Miskovsky, Faith Kakembo and Cazzi.

It really is the hope that kills you :D

Which seems a bit UNFAIR considering it’s only her third time in a decade, but I do kind of see what they mean. She really shouldn’t have wasted a comeback on Alla mina sorger two years ago.

This time it really would be ridiculous if she couldn’t make the top four, but I am worried about where her votes are coming from. Nobody seems confident in her doing anything with young voters, and the older ones have so many others to choose from this week too.

I’m not even confident the older demographics won’t be voting for Lancelot in their droves as well.

The voting is going to be hideous to watch, isn't it? I'd much rather it was just a ONE SHOT AND WE'RE DONE type of affair rather than a long, drawn out bouquet of pain.

I'd have thought Lancelot would have more appeal to older voters, surely? Surely kids would just be BORED by it.

I'm writing off Cazzi and Tribe Friday (the latter feels like a 'big-ish among 30-44s and THAT'S IT' if I ever saw one). Faith is really the main worry/obstacle she has to make it past at this point.

Jesus Christ what a stone cold bore of a Top 4 Anders, Faith, Lisa and Lancelot would be. :zombie:

I have a feeling Faith has quite a wide bar of how she could do between AC and 6th - I wouldn't be surprised if Cazzi finished ahead of her, just 5th is probably Cazzi's likeliest peak. (although maybe an outside shot of AC if the younger vote really goes for her?)

The thought of poor Linda having to sit there in that frock and grimace - whether she is out of it or even tantalisingly in the mix - just too much to bear.

God Sweden sounds a like depressing place to be a child :D

This is really good INTEL to have as a non-Swede :D
It is easy to overlook how acts are viewed and considered on HOME TURF by their (not so) adoring public.

There is no way Linda is not top 4. The difference is that Sweden are not arbitrarily going to put through gay favourites, they have to earn it. And with this song and performance it looks like she has!

I've had Killer Girl in my head all day, I hope it doesn't portend ill. Putting Min karusell on for a spot of Victorious :disco:

Anyway, I can see you're all worried so I thought I'd remind you that Victorious, Party Voice and #StillYoung all went direkt without breaking a sweat. Really, experience should tell us that schlagerboilers are one of the safest bets for qualification.

Plus, I just can't see Sweden liking Faith, Cazzi or Tribe Friday more than her.

Oh I've finally figured out subtitles, but now I wonder if it'll take away from the experience understanding what they're saying...
