Kate Middleton Princess née Duchess of EVILSHIRE

I’ve never been one of those “Abolish the Monarchy” callers, but shit like Trooping the Colour really could be scrapped. Utterly pointless and no one involved seems to enjoy it.

Yuck at this:

She turns up in a pretty dress and others fighting cancer out there are reduced to Lesser Mortals?

Good lord :o that is appalling.

I'm very quickly going off the Royals, I guess it was just Queenie I liked.

That's seriously fucking disgusting. Pearson should be utterly ashamed of herself.

Pearson's always been a grade A cunt. I hope this gets her some nasty attention because she's overdue for a backlash.

Erm can we not blame Kate for a shit article that someone wrote in a Tory rag? :D

Britain’s pitchfork mentality never fails to amuse me

I love me an EVILSHIRE joke but I’m screaming at Kate locked in an emergency PR meeting asking to be positioned as ‘braver than the lazy common folk’ in order to improve her image

They/She faked her own proof of life photo, I WOULDN'T PUT IT PAST THEM

I mean, she's already freelancing as a photo editor, why not get her sending out some press releases while she's at it?

Oh no I'm not blaming her for that, that's just a coincidence in my comment. I'm going off the royals in general

Apologies for a bit of a morbid thought, but what happens if the following not entirely out of the question chain of events takes place?

- Kate doesn’t recover
- Charles dies
- William, mindful of his own childhood experiences, refuses the throne to spend time with his family.

This scenario also presumably discounts his kids - do we end up with Queen BEA(trice)?

If he refuses the throne for him and his children (no idea if that's even possible) it's Harry.

If Harry does the same, then it's Andrew :zombie:

Yeah, Harry and Andrew are no longer performing official royal duties, but neither were removed from the order of succession.

(To correct @ZenGiraffe :david: it will technically be Harry's kids before Andrew.)

I also simply think it won't happen. William, like Charles has been prepared all his life to take the throne as his duty. If Charles will happily willingly accept it age 75 (which people weren't sure he would), then the precedent is certainly there for William to happily accept it when his time comes regardless of the circumstances

Reread what I wrote, I said if Harry refused for himself and his kids too.

If you're going to take a shot at this Z, you better not miss.

William can’t even abdicate without an Act of Parliament (unless you count suicide).

As part of the process of drawing up the Act of Parliament for the abdication, Parliament would likely also legislate for the new monarch if they wanted to skip the Wales children and/or the Sussexes and/or the Duke of York. But good luck getting the Parliament of Australia to pass the same law.

It'd all be very sad but at least we could comfort ourselves with what would surely be a wonderfully gauche coronation for Harry and Meghan; a GOOP goodybag for every world leader in attendance, people doing yoga in bearskin hats, the coronation ordo replaced with Oprah doing a reading from 'Lean In'.
