I don't think I bought many Kylie imports, but particularly pre-internet I think that was slightly different, because getting hold of international versions was so exciting. You'd often stumble across them in record shops without knowing they even existed, or read about them in Record Collector and it would take ages to hunt them down. And then owning them was quite a thrill! Everything felt like a special find, or something that only people on the other side of the planet owned.

Now when you have twenty formats dumped online for all the world to buy, and thanks to eBay, very few things are actually really elusive any more, that's all gone :(
One of my rarest finds was a 3" CD version of The Locomotion in Virgin on Oxford Street. I'm sure I never sold that but I don't know where it is. It must be worth a fortune now!

But like you, I also found it really exciting. Tower Records in Piccadilly (where the Kylie POP-UP was incidentally), the HMVs in Oxford Circus and Bond Street and Marcble Arch) and the aforementioned Virgin on Tottenham Court Road were veritable meccas for Kylie imports. The rest I purchased by mail order. Aside from using money earned from a paper round, I have no idea how I afforded it all.

I did the same with Prince for a period of about three years but he was so fucking prolific I gave up.

Considering Padam did NOTHING there, that's not so bad for Germany (I realise that both Golden and Disco did better but that's a moot point).

Could we be looking at top 30 on Billboard or is that too optimistic?

Billboard put in an article that it was flirting with the top 20 (HDD don’t have it in their top 20), so I’d say top 30 is expected unless they are way off.

Good positions for Germany and France too, especially as the single didn’t chart in either. With about 65k from UK and Australia, and likely around 20k in the US, she should be fine for over 100k internationally.

And regardless of numbers, the first time she has achieved three consecutive #1 studio albums, and she's doing it this deep into her career :disco:

OT: because I talked about charity shopping in here earlier on, I’m writing this here, but I went out this afternoon for a stroll in the sunshine, stopped in 5 charity shops, all absolute dreck and the sixth, the one I ignore, had a Dooleys album in near mint condition and, even better, a BRAND NEW AND SEALED vinyl copy of Sonia’s Everybody Knows, each a quid.

I’ve been made immeasurably happy by the purchase of both.

Which Dooleys album?

LastFM tells me the track I've streamed most in the last week is 10 out of 10 :square:

I see the bonus deluxe digital version is no longer available. How long before they turn up on streaming, I wonder?

Secrets. I only didn’t mention to see if you asked- AND YOU DID :D
I didn't bother with that one at the time, although looking at the tracklist, I know the majority of the songs, probably from compilations.

I think by the time that album was released, I'd moved on to Bucks Fizz.

I do/did properly love both The Chosen Few and (even more so) Full House though.

I love all three. And the other one that ended up on the double CD reissues a few years ago, whatever that was.

This time I only went for one vinyl (the grey one) - from her store.
I also got the CD because I do love her book format CDs.

Bloody hell, really? It's one thing to run out of a colour of vinyl but deleting a digital album after 4 days? That's just silly.

It was advertised as for a few days only. Strange that it was taken down when the chart week ended!

I'm not ready to yet. But Tension is top three.

It's not like there was ever a point where she wasn't going to get the number 1. I dare say when the expanded edition is released at the beginning of December, the two tracks can be described as "rare" or some such.

She did say that was going to happen. Obviously to maximise first week sales.

It will reappear at some point, of course.
