How are you likely to vote?

I had been wondering what Armando Iannucci made of all these clips of Sunak absolutely sabotaging himself and it seems he's been busy retweeting clips of The Thick Of It all week :D

If anyone has never watched The Thick Of It, now is definitely the time to do so. Warning however: despite the extreme satire, it never gets as ridiculous as the current government.

He'll keep his seat. Calling it now.

He could, but it’ll take a hell of a job. I find it hard to see. He’d probably need to take at least 50% of the Labour vote. There’s not much of a green vote to squeeze, and you’d expect some of the LD/Con vote to go to Labour (they won’t touch Corbyn).

Labour have also put forward an excellent local candidate. Will be a fascinating battle.

I think this is going to be a seat that votes on name recognition rather than party recognition, which gives Corbyn a massive advantage. That and his 40 years incumbency.

winning outright on a personal vote would be extraordinary. It could get him to 10k, maybe 12k (which is colossal in itself) but he’d need 18-20k to win I reckon, depending on turnout and the swing. It’s doable in the right circumstances. Defo one to follow.

Gove not standing now. Shitebag.

(EDIT - not confirmed yet but being reported by the BBC)

"After nearly twenty years serving the wonderful people of Surrey Heath and over a decade in Cabinet across five government departments, I have today taken the decision to step down as a Member of Parliament to focus on getting absolutely fucking wasted and dancing my greasy arse off."

Gove has done more to keep an industry alive than any other cabinet minister, let's give him that

I’m enjoying the funny hats / Norman French time in the House of Lords.

Tories proving once again that they're only interested in power and success. They don't really believe in the party, they believe in themselves. Otherwise they would support the party through the turmoil. Rats.

I struggle to imagine who are these Islington voters who would vote against him except the handful of Tories. Young first voters and people in their 20s will vote for him, wealthy home owners in their 50s and 60s who’ve voted for him for decades are going to vote for him. And let’s be honest, they’re Islington’s only demographics!

I'm so disappointed so many big names aren't standing. I was looking forward to seeing so many of them LOSE.

Very frustrated by the tv studios going for the head to head debates. The Tories are literally dying on their arses and don't deserve to have their voices heard more than the other parties.

Turns out it's not true, he's off to the north east today.

Nobody born after the year 1942 has had to do national service. Sunak took the day off and this is the best he could come up with? Did they even think about how this would work in Northern Ireland? Absolutely batshit.

How will they enforce it? Are they going to be throwing 18 year olds into prison for not turning up to their Saturday shift at PRAMA?

it hasn’t been thought through at all. It’s very unpopular in the military because it takes up valuable time and resources. I bet it’ll be unpopular in the emergency services for the same reasons. They’re announcing it for Sunday morning headlines and to appeal to 65 year old Reform voters who’ve never had to do it themselves and who still won’t switch to Conservative. All the while it goes down like a bucket of cold sick with the rest of the country.

Would be hilarious if this is their Death Tax moment on Day 4 of the campaign, however.
